Preparation: Ensure that the ceiling is clean, dry, and smooth. If your ceiling has been treated with lime or mineral paint, this will to be removed before installing the wallpaper. Fill any holes or dents with spackle and then sand the surface smoothly.

Measure and cut: If you have a laser level; use it to draw a straight line to guide you. This helps ensure that your wallpaper goes up straight. Use scissors or a snap-blade to cut the rolls at the scissor marks. Each roll is numbered so line them up in numerical order before you start wallpapering.

Apply paste to the ceiling: Only use non-woven wallpaper paste. Roller the paste in a thin layer along the ceiling one to two roll widths along the ceiling is enough.

Put up the fist length: Start putting up the paper from left  to right on the ceiling. Put up the fist length along its long edge, aligning it with the line you drew. Use a wallpaper brush to smooth the paper and ease away any air bubbles. Wipe off any excess paste with a soft, damp sponge.

Put up the next lengths: Apply your next length alongside the first length ensuring that the pattern is aligned. Repeat the step above (smooth the paper, ease away air bubbles and wipe off excess paste). Continue putting up the remaining lengths in the same way with paste, pattern alignment, water brush and the damp sponge.

Trim away the edges: Once tall the lengths have been put up, trim away surplus paper at the edges using your wallpaper knife.

Free shipping on orders of wallpaper rolls over $150. $45 shipping rate on roll orders under $150. We use UPS, FedEx and DHL for all wallpaper roll orders.

Within the US: Regular, estimated lead time (from order to delivery) is 6-8* business days on orders of regular wallpaper rolls. The estimated lead time for our customized wallpaper is 10-15* business days.

Please note that we aim to dispatch all orders within 2-4 business days, subject to payment clearance and stock availability. Our business hours are Monday to Friday, excluding Swedish and American public holidays. Estimated delivery times are provided as a guide and will begin once your payment has been processed. Please be aware that we are not responsible for any delays caused by destination customs clearance processes.

*Additionally, we would like to inform you about tariff changes set to take effect in April 2025, which may impact both our business and your orders. As most of our wallpaper orders are shipped from our manufacturer in Sweden, part of the European Union, the lead time for certain items may increase by 2-3 business days due to these changes. To help mitigate potential delays or customs issues, we will be bringing select goods to our showroom prior to shipping them to customers. This approach will remain in place until we identify the best solution for managing the impact of the tariffs.

Orders to Canada: Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the implementation of tariffs between the US and Canada, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend shipments to Canada. We will resume operations once we have a clearer understanding of the situation.

Standard products purchased through Scandinavian Wallpaper may be returned for any reason within 45 days from your original purchase from our website. We recommend ordering a sample of the items before purchasing the rolls, as the color may appear differently on your screen.
Items must be returned in their original (still in plastic wrapping) product packaging. A 25% re-stocking fee will be applied to wallpaper returns. Return shipments must be made in appropriate packaging and at customer's expense. Once the returned wallpaper has been verified in good condition a refund will be issued.  Wallpaper samples may not be returned for any reason. You have no right to return a product made to your specifications or that is clearly personalized. As a general rule, all of our photo-walls/murals are made to our customer’s specifications or are clearly personalized.
